Jornada 1 might not have received the attention it deserved because of the ongoing Copa and Euro tournaments, so let’s take a quick recap! The champions fell to San Luis 2-1, Pumas took care of business winning 4-1 against Leon and Cruz Azul came out with a win even playing a man-down. As the Apertura 2024 season kicks into gear, Jornada 2 promises to deliver excitement and drama with several intriguing matchups. We’ll dive into our top games this weekend!

CABRA PICKS of the WEEK:
Xolos vs Chivas (Friday, 8pm PST)
Will The Recent Trends of Ties Continue?
One of the best games of Jornada 2 and it's a "Viernes Botanero" which makes it even better. Xolos have started off on the right foot after winning the first game of the season and breaking their away game curse. On the other hand, Chivas drew 0-0 at home to Toluca. It's pretty tough to predict games this early into the season but if we base it on recent history, 3 out of the last 4 games between these two teams in Estadio Caliente have ended in a draw. My score prediction is 1-1, both teams share a point.

CABRA PICKS of the WEEK:
Monterrey vs Cruz Azul (Saturday, 8pm PST)
A Preview of The Final in Jornada 2?
It might only be Jornada 2, but don’t be surprised if this matchup ends up being the Liga MX final in December. As this game features two of the Top-3 roster values in Liga MX, as well as a rematch of the last season’s semifinal that ended 2-2 (Cruz Azul advancing via tiebreaker). Both teams were already good, but they still heavily boosted their rosters with La Maquina spending nearly $20 million to sign: Andres Montaño, Luis Romo, Georgios Giakoumakis, and Jorge Sanchez. And Rayados making the big name signing of ex-Sevilla, Porto, and Atletico Madrid midfielder Oliver Torres. This is no doubt the game of the weekend. With this being Monterrey’s home opener, plus looking to get revenge for last season’s semifinal elimination, look for them to be extra motivated in this one.
