CABRA PICKS of the WEEK:
#4 Cruz Azul vs #15 Atlas (Sat, 6pm PST)
LA MAQUINA ARE FOR REAL
This match might be closer than people expect it to be. A Cruz Azul that's having one of its best seasons since winning their last league title, against an underwhelming Atlas side. So on paper, this is looking to be a dominant performance. But believe it or not, out of the last 4 times these teams have faced, Atlas has won 3 times. So will past results repeat themselves? The answer is no. Atlas haven't won a single game away from home this season and it definitely won't happen this match week. Uriel Antuna will probably continue his scoring streak as he's looking to finish the season as top scorer. Cruz Azul win 3-1, simple.
Andre’s Lock of the Week: Cruz Azul to Win (-200)
#11 Club Leon vs #3 Monterrey (Sat, 4pm PST)
UPSET BREWING IN GUANAJUATO
On paper, this looks like a walk in the park for Rayados. They are a Top-3 team in the Liga MX standings, as well as CONCACAF Champions Cup semifinalists. Meanwhile, Leon is a club with more losses this season than Xolos (a club that barely won their first game of the season in Jornada 15). However, there are plenty of reasons to believe in a possible upset. First, the Estadio Leon has been somewhat of a “House of Horrors” for Monterrey, as they haven’t won in Leon in 6 years. Add that to the fact that Monterrey is currently on a 3-game winless streak in Liga MX, plus the fact they could rest their starters ahead of their big CCC semifinal against Columbus Crew next week, an upset is likely. Leon on the other hand need at least a draw to keep their repechaje hopes alive. They simply need this game more than Monterrey do.
