We’ve made it to the Round of 32, and 11 of those spots have been secured by Liga MX clubs. The MLS teams have performed better in the group stage, and that is somewhat expected with the constant home-field advantage, but it’s time for a Liga MX club to step up and show out. The surprise team has been Juarez, having come first place in their group. Can the Bravos continue to be the surprise team of the tournament??
Both the Columbus Crew and Club America are now joining the tournament after having a rewarding bye through the group stage for being Champions of their respective leagues. Those teams will be favorites the rest of the way. We have some predictions for the other games this weekend below!

Hector Herrera Carrying the Dynamo?
Let’s get this straight. Toluca is the far better team. Toluca is UNBEATEN in every competition this season. Their offense has been on an absolute tear and they’ve signed a great striker in Paulinho. But Houston Dynamo isn’t an easy match, especially since they’re playing at home. They’re coming off a great win against Real Salt Lake (3-0) where Hector Herrera shined with one goal and an assist. What the Leagues Cup has proven to me is that if the home MLS team is pretty decent, then they’re capable of beating any Liga MX team with just a home-field advantage. This game goes to penalties in my opinion and Houston Dynamo pulls it off.

The Liga MX Champions Have Entered The Chat
A Liga MX battle in the Round of 32 of the Leagues Cup. This will be Club America’s first game of the tournament as they qualified straight into the knockouts. Atlas, on the other hand, managed to finish 2nd in their group. Club America having a shaky start to their season is nothing to hide, but this is completely normal for them. They now have the majority of their players back from international competition. Atlas have started their season brilliantly. The only loss they’ve had was their very last match vs Real Salt Lake. I wish I could say Atlas can pull off the upset, but it would be insane if America ended up crashing down. I don’t see that happening.
