⚽ J-14 Recap
It was another exciting weekend in Liga MX action, as Jornada 14 served up tight matches and one major upset. Monterrey impressed with a 3–1 triumph over Guadalajara, Toluca edged Santos Laguna 2–1 to stay neck‐and‐neck at the top of the standings, and Cruz Azul survived a late surge from Pumas to secure a 3–2 victory. However, the biggest surprise came at Estadio Hidalgo, where Pachuca stunned league‐leading Club América with a narrow 1–0 win, courtesy of a 19th‐minute goal from Salomón Rondón. The match got even more dramatic in added time when Bryan González received a straight red card, but the Tuzos held on for the clean sheet.
With the win, Pachuca vaults into seventh place on 24 points and firmly into the postseason conversation, proving they can shut down any opponent when their defense is locked in. For Club América, who are tied atop the standings with Toluca at 30 points (but still lead on goal difference), the loss is a reality check. Despite dominating possession and generating chances, Las Águilas could not find an equalizer. They’ll need to regroup quickly, as the final three rounds of the Clausura loom large and the race for the top seed remains razor‐thin.
🔥 Match of the Week: Cruz Azul vs Club America
Looking ahead to Jornada 15, the marquee matchup is undoubtedly the showdown between first‐place América (30 points) and third‐place Cruz Azul (28 points). With just two points separating the longtime Mexico City rivals, this clash could dramatically shape the playoff picture. Elsewhere, Toluca (30 points) will look to stay hot and maintain their share of the lead. Necaxa and León (both at 27 points) are lurking just behind, eager to capitalize on any slip‐ups. Expect more fireworks as each club aims to bolster its positioning in the final stretch of the regular season.

LOCK of the WEEK:
Tigres vs Monterrey
Saturday, 6 pm PST
Expect Goals in a Must‐Win Clásico Regio
This upcoming Clásico Regio between Tigres and Monterrey offers a compelling case for backing Over 2.5 Goals (-115) for one unit. Despite recent scoring inconsistencies, Tigres have still accumulated 10 points over their last five matches, registering three wins, one draw, and only one defeat. Even though they have failed to score in two of those matches, four of their last five fixtures have surpassed the 2.5 goal threshold. Furthermore, with Tigres boasting 12 clean sheets overall but conceding four goals in their last five outings, there is potential for the floodgates to open should both teams adopt an attacking mindset.
On the other side, Monterrey comes into this match having netted 12 goals across their last five games. They have recorded 10 points in that same span, illustrating a strong run of form. Crucially, both teams have scored in each of Monterrey’s last five fixtures, contributing to a 70% BTTS rate (26 out of 37 matches) for the season. Given that Monterrey are only four points behind Tigres and in need of a result, this showdown is expected to be more expansive, creating opportunities for both clubs to find the back of the net. In light of these factors, the Over 2.5 Goals wager at -115 carries solid value for this high‐stakes derby encounter.
