The Liga MX defending champs have their swag back...
Another big slate of Liga MX games for Jornada 11 with our Picks, Prop Bets, Memes, and more!
The top of the table in Liga MX remains with only three points separating the Top 5 teams. It was a mixed bag for Liga MX teams in the CONCACAF Champion’s Cup this past week - Chivas got walloped at home to the defending champs, Club America (more on them later) but all other teams held serve, not giving up a single goal against their MLS counterparts. Over/under on how many Liga MX teams make it to the quarterfinals of CCC?
Our analysis for the week is below - and as always, make sure you don’t miss your Liga MX Quiniela picks for this weekend. It’s free to play with cash prizes for the winner
PICKS of the WEEK:
#4 Club America vs #6 Tigres (SAT 7pm PST)
Game of the week alert! The last time these teams played it was for a championship. Julian Quinones was scoring goals, and Nahuel Guzman was doing, well...typical, weird Nahuel things.
There hasn't been much of a slump for either of these teams as they both find themselves in the top 6 of the table. Club America comes into this match unbeaten in their last 5 home matches, while Tigres have lost their two most recent away matches. Las Aguilas will be coming fresh off from a match against rivals Chivas in Wednesday's CONCACAF Champions Cup. Still, their form, particularly Zendejas, has me thinking they inch away from Tigres on Saturday night.
Prediction: 2-1, Club America Win
#13 Santos Laguna vs #2 Cruz Azul (SAT 5pm PST)
An underrated fixture this weekend for sure. An in-form Cruz Azul that looks nothing like the one from last year that finished in the bottom 3.
Coming off a huge win at home vs Chivas (3-0), there's no doubt La Maquina will be playing with full confidence in Torreon. On the other hand, Santos are coming into this match after 2 consecutive wins. Their managerial appointment of Nacho Ambriz is making quite the change. This matchup has been really even in recent years. In the past 7 games, they've drawn 3 times and each won twice so they can really go both ways. The Cruz Azul hype train must take a break and it might be this week. The game will end in a draw in Torreon.
Prediction: Santos 1-1 Cruz Azul
#3 Pachuca vs #10 Queretaro (SAT 5pm PST)
If you’re looking for a game that features the best young talent in Liga MX, this is it. From Pachuca’s Bryan Gonzalez and Alan Bautista, to Queretaro’s 22-year-old goalie Fernando Tapia, this matchup features a look into the future of Liga MX and possibly La Seleccion Mexicana.
On paper Pachuca’s attack (which leads the Liga MX in goals) should eat Queretaro alive. But if the previously mentioned Fernando Tapia plays, Loz Tuzos could struggle to score as he’s been in the form of his life. He’s the main reason why Queretaro have held their own against some of the Liga MX big dogs like Tigres and Monterrey, holding both to a draw.
Expect a big game from Tapia, even if it doesn’t result in a win.
Prediction: Pachuca 1-0 Queretaro

Double Chance, Santos Win or Draw (-135) vs Cruz Azul
Yes. Cruz Azul is 2nd in the table. Yes. They've won 4 out of their last 5 matches. Why are going with a Santos result here? It's not the Modelo speaking -- it's the fact that we have to take this generous value (-135) for home teams in Liga MX. Santos see their win rate and expected goals increase when they are at home, so we are leaning on historical data and pushing for a Santos Win or Draw in this game. Follow the data on this one!
Chivas vs Leon BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE 2ND HALF (+170)
Look it's simple. Chivas has to score at home after back to back 3-0 losses throughout the week. There will be major problems in Guadalajara don't win let alone not score. It's time to reset and get back on track. Leon has scored in every Liga MX game so far except for 1 (against America), the majority coming after the first half. This game will be decided late in the 2nd half and both teams will score.
Pumas vs Xolos to end in a DRAW (+280 odds)
No team in Liga MX has more draws than Los Xolos de Tijuana (6). These teams have also drawn in 2 of their last 3 meetings. With Xolos desperate to get their first W of the season, combined with Pumas being at home and desperate to not be the first losers to Xolos, expect a very tight game.
FUN FACT of the WEEK:
Pachuca is the only team in Liga MX history that has a winning record vs America at the Estadio Azteca. 14 wins, 9 draws, and 10 losses all-time.
Good luck to everyone this week in the CABRA Quinielas.
