We have the return of the Leagues Cup and Javier Aguirre in the same week! Inter Miami will be defending their Leagues Cup tournament title that features all 47 MLS and Liga MX clubs divided into 15 groups of 3 teams, excluding the top 15 MLS and top 2 Liga MX teams who receive byes to the knockout stage. We have some predictions & picks for this weekend’s matches below!
Javier Aguirre, often referred to as "El Vasco," has primarily coached club ball in Mexico and Spain. This will be his third stint with the Mexica National Team after joining them back in 2002 during a critical period of qualification for the World Cup and did so again for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The boys talk about this hire in-depth in their latest YouTube video.

Los Perros from Baja coming up to California
We've got a California battle between LA FC and Xolos de Tijuana to kick off their Leagues Cup campaigns. Can "Los Perros" from across the border pull off an upset away from home? In last year's Leagues Cup, Xolos had a forgettable campaign after losing all their matches. Now, they've got a new coach in Juan Carlos Osorio who's already made an instant positive impact on the team. But beating LA FC at BMO Stadium is too soon for this Xolos team. LA FC is currently sitting 2nd in the MLS Western Conference and will most likely top this Leagues Cup group. LA FC wins this game 3-1.

Chivas vs SJ Earthquakes (Saturday, 7pm PST)
Cade Cowell’s Homecoming
We’ll get right to the point, Chivas is winning this game. They’re kicking off their Leagues Cup campaign against by far the worst team in MLS, the Earthquakes who have lost 19 of their 25 games this season. And although the game is being played in the Bay Area just 10 miles from downtown San Jose, it will almost certainly feel like a Chivas home game, with the stadium covered by a sea of red and white stripes. El Rebaño Sagrado also have extra motivation going into this game as they’re looking to make up for last year’s embarrassing Leagues Cup group stage exit losing both their games to MLS clubs. Chivas is winning this one comfortably.
