Erick Sanchez, Pachuca, and Cruz Azul are en fuego!
Picks, Prop Bets, and more for Jornada 8 of Liga MX!
The 24-year-old central midfielder for Pachuca has started his LigaMX campaign with NBA Jam flames coming out his backside. He has 4 goals and 3 assists so far and has catapulted Pachuca to 2nd place in the 2023/24 Clausura table. His side have a spicy matchup this week versus undefeated Necaxa - read below to see who our team of cracks is backing this weekend.
Elsewhere in Mexico City…everyone is singing this song (probably) after the incredible start La Máquina Celeste has gotten off too. Currently top of the table with SIX straight wins, they face off with Club America in another edition of the Clásico Joven. Check out our analysis below to see if Cruz Azul can (finally) get the upper-hand on their city rivals.

PICKS of the WEEK:
#7 Necaxa vs #2 Pachuca (FRI 7pm PST)
This might just be the Game of The Week in Jornada 8!
In the heart of Aguascalientes, Nexaca plays host to the top-of-the-table team, Pachuca (at the point of writing this). Necaxa has been one of the most exciting teams this season, having scored in each of their last 4 matches, and is one of two remaining undefeated teams. The issue with them is the fact that most of their matches have ended up as draws, so eventually, they'll need to turn these games into 3-points. Pachuca, a surprise to some, has been really consistent this season and that all stems from the fantastic play of their central midfielder, Erick Sanchez.
In his game against Club America, he netted two goals and had an 83% successful pass ranking -- he's been out here cooking! This game is really hard to predict, as both teams have been in form and are coming off of games on Wednesday. I think the confidence from beating Chivas earlier in the week mixed with them being at home, gives Necaxa the advantage in this game.
Prediction: Necaxa 2-1 Pachuca
#9 Chivas vs #3 Pumas (SAT 5pm PST)
Pumas have been a better team than Chivas over the last 2 seasons, as they eliminated Chivas from the Liguilla a few months ago, and this season they’re currently 5 places higher in the table.
However, recent history shows that whenever these teams meet at the Estadio Akron, Chivas have the big advantage. Chivas have won 5 games in a row vs Pumas when playing in Guadalajara, by a combined score of 13-4. There is also a chance El Rebaño could receive a big emotional boost as Chicharito could potentially make his debut on Saturday night.
Prediction: Chivas 2-1 Pumas
#5 Club America vs #1 Cruz Azul (SAT 7pm PST)
Jornada 8 is not disappointing with these match ups! One of the biggest rivalries in Mexican futbol is taking place in the back then Estadio Azul, which makes this game a bit odd since America is at home.
Cruz Azul are currently flying at the moment as they've won their last 5 games. On the other hand, America have been very inconsistent compared to last season having only won 2 out of their last 5. Las Aguilas have historically owned Cruz Azul (who haven’t beaten America since 2021) but a 2-2 tie against Mazatlan does not inspire any confidence on the current version of this side. Mexico City turns blue this weekend.
Prediction: Cruz Azul 3 - 1 Club America
LOCKS of the WEEK:
Our team of cracks have put their heads together to deliver the ABSOLUTE best picks to tail for Liga MX action this weekend. Let us know on our IG if you jump on any of these selections.
Toluca to WIN vs Xolos (-145)
Xolos de Tijuana have one of the worst away records in Liga MX. They haven't won a game away since April of last year. Toluca have scored over 3 goals in their 2 home games so far this season (before Santos matchup). It's almost close to a miracle if Xolos are somehow able to secure some points at the Nemezio Diaz on Sunday.
FC Juarez vs Monterrey UNDER 2.5 Goals (-120)
It's a rare sight to see under 2.5 goals in Liga MX, but, hey, it happens. Monterrey holds a 42% clean sheet rate in away matches, have only let in 5 goals this season and they play a team in Juarez that has been shut out in 3 of their last 5 home matches. The signs are all lining up for us to see a low-scoring, boring affair on Friday night -- just kick back and relax and collect your winnings from this one, compas.
Tigres TO WIN vs Atlas (-165 odds)
Atlas have lost all 3 away games they’ve played this season. Tigres are undefeated in their last 22 home games in all competitions (13 wins, 9 draws). Enough said.
Note: If you parlay these 3 bets, $100 would cash out $497 (your $100 bet + $397 profit)
