Jornada 6 is in the books, giving us a better sense of this season’s frontrunners. The game started slowly for both teams, but Cruz Azul ultimately dominated, defeating Club América 4-1. This match was pivotal for two reasons: first, it affirmed Cruz Azul’s legitimacy as a contender; second, it dealt a major blow to Club América, which now sits in 12th place with just 2 wins and 4 losses. Yikes! Other standout teams include Xolos (my dark horse!), Toluca, and Tigres, all of which are sitting at the top of the table.
Looking ahead to the weekend, attention shifts to the national team as Mexico faces New Zealand at the Rose Bowl on Saturday. While there’s not much buzz around the national team due to recent struggles and the strength of their opponent, the match will showcase new (sort of) coach Javier Aguirre, a figure with a rich history in Mexican football.
Aguirre earned 59 caps scored 13 goals for Mexico between 1983 and 1992, and played in the 1986 World Cup, where he made headlines for being the first Mexican player sent off in a World Cup match during the quarter-final against West Germany. As a coach, Aguirre took over the national team twice—in 2001 and again in 2009—guiding them to two World Cups and two Round of 16 finishes in 2002 and 2010.
The game might not be considered “must-watch TV” but the CABRA boys will have you dialed in with some bets! Check them out below, compas.

Navigating the Mexico Match: Trends, Uncertainty, and Aguirre's Impact
To be honest, this is a tough game to bet on. On paper, it should be an easy win for Mexico, but lately, nothing has come easy for the national team. I’m betting on new coach Javier Aguirre to motivate the squad and get them to step up. The players are likely eager to make a strong first impression under his leadership, so I expect a solid performance.
Instead of getting too stressed, let’s look at the trends. In the last five meetings between these two teams, the "Over" has hit every time—5-0! For those of you that struggled with High School math..that’s 100%, compas! While nothing is guaranteed, that’s a strong trend, and the value is too good to pass up based on past results. Let’s see how it plays out.
